ABOUT LEGACY OF THE HORSE
Legacy of the Horse is Australia's only standalone Colt Starting Championship, bringing together exceptional horse trainers from across Australia and around the world for five days of education, competition, and horsemanship excellence.
Founded by Kim Peterson of The Australian Cowgirl Co., Legacy of the Horse was created from a passion for showcasing true horsemanship—where feel, timing, communication, and partnership form the foundation of every great horse. Inspired by some of the world's most respected horsemanship events, Legacy of the Horse celebrates the art of starting young horses with patience, understanding, and respect.
Held at Tatura Park Equestrian Centre in Victoria, Australia, Legacy of the Horse 2027 will take place from 14–18 April 2027 and will feature an exciting competition format. Four Wild Card Trainers will compete for the opportunity to advance to the Championship Round, where they will join three invited Championship Trainers in the battle for the Legacy of the Horse Championship title.
Working with carefully selected young horses supplied by Woodstock Paint Horses, trainers will demonstrate their ability to build trust, confidence, communication, and connection while laying the foundations for a successful future partnership.

We are proud to welcome Woodstock Paint Horses as the official horse provider for Legacy of the Horse 2025.
